Jefferson College | Fine Arts Center

The Jefferson College Fine Arts Addition and Renovation creates a more connected, accessible, and inspiring home for the college’s visual and performing arts programs. By enclosing the open breezeway between the existing Fine Arts North and South buildings, the project establishes a welcoming central lobby that serves as the new heart of the complex. Designed to support student interaction, receptions, exhibitions, and small performances, the expanded space also includes an art gallery and administrative offices, strengthening the Fine Arts Department’s presence on campus.

A primary goal of the project was improving accessibility and creating a more intuitive experience for students, performers, and visitors. A new grand entrance, highlighted by a warm wood feature wall, and a centrally located elevator provide seamless access between building levels and the theater beyond. The addition also includes a dedicated band and choir rehearsal space with integrated acoustical treatments to support high-quality instruction and performance. This band and choir rehearsal space is also built to be a flexible learning environment, able to allow both sections to create art and music, and allowing them to collaborate in the same space. Together, these improvements transform the Fine Arts complex into a cohesive destination that celebrates creativity while providing flexible, functional spaces for learning, collaboration, and performance.
