City of Joplin | Fire Station No. 7

Project Type
Municipal/Civic
Location
Joplin, MO

Paragon Architecture, in partnership with GLMV Architecture, completed Joplin Fire Station No. 7 — a modern, three-bay, drive-through facility that strengthens emergency response in southeast Joplin. Purpose-built for efficiency, safety, and service, the station is a direct result of collaboration with firefighters who previously worked at Station No. 2, allowing lessons learned and real-world experience to inform every aspect of the design.

The facility supports a crew of six and includes thoughtfully designed living quarters, a full-sized kitchen, day room, offices, fitness center, and a state-of-the-art decontamination suite to support firefighter health and wellness. A wall-sized mural by a local photographer honors the heroism of the Joplin Fire Department, anchoring the station in community pride and identity.

Station No. 7 also includes a Safe Haven baby box — a discreet and secure feature that provides an anonymous, compassionate option for infant surrender, underscoring the City’s commitment to protecting its most vulnerable.

Designed as a prototype for future stations, Joplin Fire Station No. 7 balances operational excellence with deep respect for the people it serves — both those who wear the uniform and the broader community.
