City of Joplin // Fire Station No. 2
Joplin Fire Station No. 2 replaced one of two fire stations that was lost in the devastating tornado that struck Joplin in spring of 2011. Paragon design Station #2 based on the prototype concept that was developed by CR for Joplin Station No 6. With a similar look, the City’s image is unified and the station will fit seamlessly into the community. The scale of this new facility was reduced to include two bays, living quarters for five personnel, and appropriately sized living and support facilities, this 7,400 SF station is an efficient, practical solution designed to meet a stringent budget. This station incorporates a turnout gear room designed to double as a storm shelter, fitness room, living/dining/dayroom, five dorm rooms, alarm room, and decontamination room. Although not a LEED project, the station incorporates many sustainable design concepts and features common to LEED certified projects.
