Project Type

Joplin Fire Station #2 replaces one of two fire stations that were lost in the tornado that struck Joplin in spring of 2011. Station #2 is designed based on the prototype concept that was developed by CR for Joplin Station #6. With a reduced plan to include two bays, living quarters for five personnel and appropriately sized living and support facilities, this 7,400 SF station is an efficient, practical solution designed to meet a stringent budget. This station incorporates a turnout gear room designed to double as a storm shelter, fitness room, living/dining/dayroom, five dorm rooms, alarm room, and decontamination room. Although not a LEED project, the station incorporates many sustainable design concepts and features common to LEED certified projects.
