Springfield-Greene County Library District | Republic Branch Library

The new Springfield-Greene County Library District Republic Branch Library was designed to serve as a vibrant community resource that supports learning, creativity, and connection for residents of all ages. More than doubling the size of the previous facility, the new branch provides dedicated spaces for children, teens, and adults, along with expanded collections, a business center, administrative offices, flexible meeting rooms, and a large multipurpose community room that accommodates a wide variety of programs and events.

Designed to foster innovation and lifelong learning, the library features maker studios for recording, music, video, and other creative pursuits, as well as collaborative workspaces that support entrepreneurs, students, and community organizations. An outdoor Exploratorium extends the library experience beyond its walls with reading areas, interactive learning opportunities, and nature-focused spaces that encourage exploration and discovery. Additional site amenities, including a convenient drive-through for material pick-up and return, enhance accessibility and provide patrons with flexible ways to utilize the library’s services.

Constructed on the existing library site, the project was carefully phased to allow library operations to continue uninterrupted throughout construction. Once the new facility was complete, services seamlessly transitioned into the new building before the original branch was removed. The result is a modern, flexible library that not only expands access to educational resources but also serves as a welcoming destination where individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations can gather, collaborate, and learn for generations to come.
