Dallas County Health Department
Despite funding challenges that placed the project on hold midstream, Dallas County ultimately completed a new 6,776 square foot headquarters for its Health Department — more than doubling the space of its previous facility and significantly expanding its capacity to serve residents across the region.
Designed by Paragon Architecture, the wood-framed, wood-truss facility includes exam and consultation rooms for screenings and vaccinations, administrative offices, and essential support spaces. A hardened CMU radio room ensures continuity of operations during emergencies. While the original vision included a large community room and teaching kitchen, the revised plan prioritized core health services and long-term functionality — with flexibility for future growth.
With this new space, the Dallas County Health Department is now able to offer more services to more people in a modern, welcoming environment tailored to public health delivery. The project reflects the County’s continued investment in the well-being of families — especially women and children — and its commitment to accessible, preventive care for the broader community.
