Care to Learn | Infill & Remodel
Transforming the bustling consignment shop at 1047 S. Glenstone into the new headquarters for Care to Learn involved reimagining three retail spaces into
flexible office spaces. This project carefully balanced the charm of the late 1950s architecture with modern accessibility requirements. The renovations focused on creating a welcoming environment, with a modified entry and materials that transformed the space into a functional office. The new layout accommodates additional staff and supplies, with spaces larger than the previous office to allow for growth over the next three years.
The design prioritized light and bright spaces using light colors and materials to foster a creative and collaborative atmosphere. Flexibility was key, ensuring the offices could adapt to changing needs. Despite being constrained by a non-profit budget, the project utilized low-cost and donated materials to achieve its goals. The result is a space that supports Care to Learn’s mission, optimizing operations for both volunteers and full-time staff, and enabling the organization to expand its impact by providing health, hunger, and hygiene resources to even more children.
