Barry-Lawrence Regional Library | Shell Knob Branch Conceptual Design
Paragon Architecture partnered once again with Barry-Lawrence Regional Library — building on several previous collaborations — to envision a modern new branch in Shell Knob, Missouri. The conceptual design established a path forward for growth, while reflecting the community’s unique lake culture and expanding needs.
The proposed site included the existing library property along with two adjacent lots generously donated to the library in late 2024. Drawing from the prototype developed in the library system’s master plan, the design featured a 2,300-square-foot book floor, flexible meeting space for up to 35 people, and generous seating areas that looked out over Table Rock Lake. A central courtyard emerged as the signature design feature — creating a dynamic indoor-outdoor experience for reading, gathering, and community programming.
Although unbuilt, the Shell Knob conceptual design equipped the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library with a compelling vision to engage stakeholders and a strong foundation for pursuing future funding opportunities, including community partnerships, private donors, and grants — ensuring the project is well-positioned when the timing is right.
